Kinda late post cause I thought there was topic already created.

The performances was pretty cool. It was a like a pre-kouhaku with the line-up they had.

What's next? "Japan Annual Enka Awards 2012: NO K-POP HERE TOO!"

Yes yes, we get it K-Pop is getting the boot this year whatever their reasons are but there is no need to fan the flames.

A lot of popular artists didn't appear at the so-called "Best Artists" award this year. Che'Nelle was one of the best selling artists this year, but she was not invited to Kōhaku or Best Artists this year. It doesn't really mean anything, her songs are still widely recognizable and popular.

It's as if you're going out of your way to prove that K-pop is no longer popular in Japan and that J-pop is superior to K-pop. The fact of the matter is K-pop still remains popular and mainstream in Japan with or without territorial disputes or historical tensions.

^Exactly, the setlist of these programs doesn't necessarily accurately represent what's in or not. It's a shame that AKB48, SKE, NMB48, all made appearances, yet BENI and Che'nelle were absent despite their recent successes. Something is clearly wrong here.

Lol I wanted Mrs. Ooja to have some light too but I have hopes that BENI is keeping a low profile rather than hitting it big like she is now and suffering for it later like Aoyama did.

I would've liked to have seen Ms.OOJA, too. They're too busy inviting every AKB48-affiliated group to have space for artists with actual vocal talent like Ms.OOJA or BENI. It's fairly obvious these music programs aren't as "fair and balanced" as we'd like to think.

anyone got fan pie charts for the artists?

and lol, if these events are based on what's popular, then what is wrong with inviting the 48family? they're a very very very successful group.

^ Well you got Mr.Children, Yuzu, Iki, Kobukuro, and a few other people. I wouldn't call it all awful.

@IceHism,

Apparently, no pie charts this year. I love that part of Best Artist the most tbh.

The point I've been trying to get across is that these year-end shows aren't exactly representative of what's popular, as many popular, successful artists, both domestic and K-pop, are not invited. In short, they're not 100% based on what's popular and I'm sure other factors are involved in the decision-making process.

Just an FYI - 2010 and 2011 didn't have any K-pop artists either and this was at the height of the Korean Wave.
