Tsuki Amano (天野月)
7yrv8.jpg

Tsuki Amano (天野月) is a female Jrock singer-songwriter, musician & illustrator. She made her debut as a solo singer in 2001 as Tsukiko Amano (天野月子) on the indie label OTOKURA RECORDS with the single "Hakoniwa ~Miniature Garden~". By the end of the year she released her first major label single "Bodaiju" under Pony Canyon. She is most well known in the west for her PS2 Fatal Frame series tie-in themes "Chou", "Koe", & "ZERO". In 2008, she decided to suspend her music activities to take a more "backseat role" composing for other artists. The following year, she shortned her name to Tsuki Amano. This is to make a distinction between what she had been and what she came to be after her quest for artistic freedom. In 2010 (as Tsuki Amano) she came back to the music scene and released 2 singles+digital picture books, a children's album & a recording live mini album. She celebrated her 10th anniversary in 2011 w/ releasing 2 singles, 3 mini-albums & a new best of.

Well, there ya go

Wow, she's had so much new stuff out since I listened last. I need to check it out.

Oh, the latest Fatal Frame 2: Deep Crimson Butterfly (the remake of the original PS2 version for the Wii) features the new song, Kurenai.

She also posted about it on her blog. She even typed a small message in English for her overseas fans(!!!)

http://tsuki-amano.weblog...1%E8%A7%A3%E7%A6%81.html

I hope that the game releases in the US. They released the original version before, so I don't see why this one shouldn't be released...

Also, I wonder what the song is about. I hope she wrote it in the point of view of Mayu, since Chou was written in the perspective of Mio (or is it the other way around?...)

I think Tsuki is one of those who can't stop creating.  Look at the sheer amount of work she's produced since her debut... & that's not including her artwork and producing for other artists.  She's a workhorse!

Definitely. I got into her super-late (I downloaded HEAVEN'S GATE on a whim), so when I heard she was retiring, my heart broke, then she came back I DEFINITELY wanna work with her though </3

Kurenai sounds great, it's making me excited for her new album!
And making me want to listen to her newer stuff as well.
I need to revisit her newer material, but for the most part, it's a bit more toned down, like Kurenai is. Still not bad, because it sounds great regardless. I can't wait for the full version!

Some more information on the new album:

image

There will be a total of 10 songs, including Kurenai (the new Fatal Frame II: Deep Crimson Butterfly theme) and a self-cover of Niwakaame. There are rumours the date may have been pushed back, since many stores have it now as July instead of June.

Apparently Tsukko is supposed to collaborate with Kanon Wakeshima on her new album, which I'm SUPER STOKED FOR. Hopefully there'll be some official confirmation soon. It looks like the July date is the real one after all though, since there hasn't been much else out yet, and there's only so little time until the previous 6.25 date =\

EDIT: Official site has July 25th, ignore my previous comment

Nice.  It makes sense those two would collab.

Famitsu recently interviewed Tsuki and Makoto Shibata, the director of Shinku no Chou.

http://www.famitsu.com/news/201206/21016584.html

English translation here. It's quite interesting to read, especially sinc it touches on her inspiration for some of her songs (not only the Fatal Frame ones, but Hakinowa, Utakata, and Lion were mentioned as well)

http://fftranslations.ats...co.uk/choutokurenai.html

Speaking of Fatal Frame, she tweeted about Project Zero 2 Wii coming out soon for Europe. I was lucky enough to get a reply after I asked if there would be a Fatal Frame release in the US. She said she didn't know, so I asked if she could ask the company, and she's sent the tweet to Shibata himself! She's such a sweetheart <3

EDIT: No info on Fatal Frame 2 Wii being brought to the US anytime soon; Shibata said that Nintendo of America handles sales in the US, so he wouldn't be of any help (since he works for Tecmo)

Btw, I probably should add the Twitter link here...

You are my hero for asking her that. And then for her to tweet Shibata! Ugh ♥♥♥ This game needs to come to the US. :<

And I'm pretty sure the title of the album is "Sora no Ki" which she stated on her blog.   "アルバムタイトル「天の樹」と書いてソラノキと読みます。"

I try :B

Huh, looks like you're right. Interesting, since you usually don't see that kanji for "sora". When did she change this?

I couldn't find it ; But yeah, Chelsea from the Camera Lens forum confirmed that too. Guess we all just overlooked it. I like Sora no Ki though, it rolls off the tongue a bit better

EDIT: http://sora2522.tumblr.co...fatalframe-amano-tsukiko

Full version of Kurenai, most likely from the credits of Shinku no Chou also welcome to my tumblr hope you enjoy your stay

Official commercial for the new album, confirming the Kanon Wakeshima collaboration (EXCITEMENT!!!!). I wonder if there'll be a full video (most likely), as well as whether Kanon will sing or just play cello.

Also, Youtube links for Kurenai.
http://www.youtube.com/wa...hKtk&feature=related

There's an alternate version as well. No mention of where it came from. The above video is the version used at the ending of Fatal Frame 2 Wii, so there's speculation as to whether the other version is an album version or not. Minimal change in arrangement, but it's there.

So no information on the alternate version of Kurenai...maybe it's a demo?

I'm guessing Cendrillon no Banekn is the Kanon collab; the name sounds very Kanon. Also, DEATH at CANDYMAN.

Question for you fellow Tsuki fans: Which album should I get? I'm trying to figure out between Tenryuu and Sora no Ki. I REALLY like Tenryuu, and it's the only album that I've listened to through and really remember (other than ZERO, which is out of print...), whereas Sora no Ki has Kurenai and the Kanon song. They're about the same price, so that doesn't help either. Thoughts?
