Anybody have a ChromeBook? Anyone want to talk me into or even out of one? $299 isn't a bad price, and though I was never huge on the "netbook" concept, anything that boots up in 5 seconds or less and gives me quick access to my pornthe full internet makes me want to try it out at least.
I wouldn't buy one for quick boot time-- hell my Linux based PC starts in 7 seconds.
If you're a web developer or have internet access often it may be worth it-- it's enjoyable and on the edge of what's to come. I am calling it-- within the next 5 years we will have a number of browser based operating systems.
The iPad got me greedy...I'm pushing it by requesting 5 second boot times, but I'm looking into it because I generally agree with you; for the average user, a browser based operating system is all that I might need. Good thing I fucking hate excel and don't use it, but someone I work with HATES Google Docs specifically because of their version of it and doesn't want me to splurge on it.
It's not an immediate purchase, but with my use of most of Google's products, a ChromeBook makes a ton of sense for my everyday use...plus, porn is just awkward on my iPad.
- If I liked corporate America, I'd wish...but aside from a few places where I currently "do" "work" (don't even ask), I am unemployable. Nanakopy87 suggested that I write a book; I've toyed with the idea, but I worry that it'll just be a long and erratic rant about something I claim not to like but secretly love...like Beyonce.
