Johnny's Junior Thread

Who are Johnny's Juniors?

The Johnny's Juniors, or Juniors for short, are the members of the Johnny's Agency that have not debuted in a group. They all begin as back dancers but depending on circumstances can bridge out to do other things, such as singing, acting and appearing on TV shows. They can be the young Juniors that have just joined the agency or adults that have been with the agency for many years.

What's the difference between a Junior and a Kansai Junior?

There are two groups of Juniors, the Kanto (or Tokyo) Juniors who are located in Tokyo, who are typically just called Juniors, and then the Kansai Juniors who are located in Osaka. The Tokyo Juniors tend to be the most well known as because of their location they can participate in more of the show recordings that get national broadcast, which is why they are just called Juniors while Kansai Juniors (nicknamed Kanjuu) get a distinction.

Where can I see them?

Usually back dancing for the younger debuted groups from the Johnny's Agency. They do have their own TV program, The Shounen Club, which airs the first two Mondays of each month. Also some Juniors are active in being on TV programs, acting in dramas and movies and being in stage plays/musicals. The best way to find out what the various members of the Juniors are doing is to go over to Johnny's net and find the Juniors section. Under media it will list everything any Junior is active in and will list which Junior it is. You can also check out the TakiCHANnel web program that features the Juniors.

Semi-current list of groups and prominent Juniors.

Nakayama Yuma

Notes: Nakayama is probably the most popular Junior from the amount of promotion he has had and from starring in two dramas (Battery and Koishite Akuma). He can usually be seen at Hey! Say! JUMP and Junior concerts as well as in musicals.

Even though he is a member of NYC with Hey! Say! JUMP members Yamada Ryosuke and Chinen Yuri he is still listed as a Junior on all the official websites.

Morimoto Shintaro

Notes: The younger brother of Hey! Say! JUMP's Morimoto Ryutaro, Shintaro in the past couple of years has been featured prominently in Junior concerts and programs as well as in musicals. He has had several drama roles and in 2009 starred in the film, Snow Prince.

7 West
- Fujii Ryusei
- Kamiyama Tomohiro
- Shigeoka Daiki
- Kotaki Nozomi

Notes: This group has gone through several name changes and a bit of a member change as well. They started off as Hey! Say! 7 West but are currently just called 7 West now. Nakayama Yuma was a member of this group and while he still performs with them as a group from time to time his name is always placed in front of their group name when he does.

This is one of the Kansai Junior groups so they mostly work out of Osaka where they perform at concerts with other Kansai Juniors and have even worked in dramas.

B.A.D.
- Nakama Junta
- Kiriyama Akito

Notes: Currently a duo though there have been past roster changes as it tends to fluctuate being them being separate or a a part of another Kansai Junior group, BOYS as B.A.D. BOYS.

Both members were in the third and final season of the Gokusen drama series as well as the film for the series.

I'm still annoyed that B.I. Shadow got pushed aside for NYC...I know it's been long enough that I should be over it but I guess it's just too personal XD
They're still awesome though and Akuma na Koi is better than the subsequent NYC releases (although I did like Yoku Asobi Yoku Manabe)
NYC boys (NYC and Dial Up and Aoi Kisetsu) >>>>>>>>>> NYC :P

I'm also anoyed that NYC gets such lame songs. I mean, I'm happy with it as long as Hey! Say! JUMP gets the cool songs and so it balances out...but if Johnny is insisting on switching off releases between the two groups then I would like to have a little more substance for NYC...they're getting better though...

Also Shin-chan has always been and will always be awesome ^^

NOOOO!!! XD
I like my HSJ the way it is...and I hated the way B.I. Shadow became Nakayama Yuma w/ B.I. Shadow...so he can be a solo artist or something XD
I don't want them putting him into my favorite groups and wrecking the good flow that's going on *is selfish*
But I still love you Yuma XD

I guess I'm just used to the 10-group so adding Yuma would just be weird...
But on a hypocritical note, I would be okay with adding B.I. Shadow XD
I just really want them to debut and having all my favorites in one place would be awesome...although I know they would end up in the back either way...
Still, they shine on the makings...

In the end, I would just be happy if Hey! Say! JUMP stays as 10 and NYC becomes NYC boys again...or better yet, just get rid of NYC and go back to Nakayama Yuma w/ B.I. Shadow - YamaChii have too much to do smiley: roll

NYC...I don't dislike them but it's just like...hmm...I love Yama-chan so I have no problem with him being there...Chii...his presence in the group kinda irks me but I think that's his presence overall since he's grown up from being the cute little kid from the first couple singles XD

Yuma...I only was harsh on him because he took the spotlight from B.I. Shadow [who I'm attached to] but that's not his fault...now that I've got over that, I'm okay with him...so bringing back him and B.I. Shadow works but B.I. Shadow should get more lines...they should all get lines but at LEAST Fuma and Kento should get some...

But the people in the back always get their time to shine in the makings ^^

I wonder if we'll get a temporary unit single this year...Akuma na Koi and Snow Prince [a.k.a. Bitter Moon's amazingness] makes me want another [coughB.I.Shadowcough*]

hahahhahaha XD

I don't dislike and of them but every time I see NYC with a new single I can't help but feel like it's something JUMP could have done. I mean you would think with NEWS's popularity falling someone would go "Maybe it's not a good idea for a group to only have two popular members" but alas. Hopefully JUMP will do something singley or albumy soon.

I agree. That's the one thing that really annoys me about their existence.
It's HSJ - NYC - HSJ - NYC. I don't need 2 NYC when I could have 4 HSJ XD
If Hey! Say! JUMP just released more then I would be okay with it. And if not, then Johnny seriously needs to make Hey! Say! BEST do some stuff on their own. But this is the Junior's thread so I guess I'm straying off topic XD

I'm all for boosting Yuma's popularity and Kento got some drama work...Yuugo got exposure on TV...Fuma and Hokuto need more.
Especially Fuma because I'm biased and I want him to be mega successful XD

I recently saw the concert part of the Kansai version of Shonentachi. It made me so happy! I love Kansai juniors and the concert was nice... It's the closest thing to a concert DVD I'll ever get from the Kanjuu I guess.

Anyway, I've been figuring that there would be a debut later this year and I have been for a while since there's usually always a debut with the FIVB volleyball cup (V6, Arashi, NEWS, HSJ) but I saw that they're considering moving the cup out of Japan this year because of the aftershocks from the earthquake :/ So now I'm thinking that for the first time in 16 years it might not happen. I wonder if Johnnys already had the debut planned and will still go ahead with it at some point or if they'll just scrap the non-existent group especially with KMF2's debut and everything. Darn I was really hoping for some Kansai juniors this time!

Now that the old forum is gone I'm really surprised that the Arashi and KAT-TUN threads haven't been made yet! The poor Johnnys forum was dead enough as was and now it's even deader...

EVERYTHING in Scrap Teacher was awesome smiley: tongue

As for the enxt group to debut, I don't really remember the details of Kis-My-Ft2's debut but I do hope they'll get a chance to debut in the future...it's totally understandable that it got pushed back and if the volleyball cup is out of Japan...hmm...maybe whoever was planning on being the support group can still go to the new location and promote and stuff?
I don't really know the specifics of how that stuff works...but I would like another debut this year...Kis-My-Ft2 (Hiro) is great...but I'd kinda like another group XD

On Yuma: I honestly wouldn't have minded if Yuma was added to HSJ, as he is more or less an unofficial member of the group with him almost always being at their concerts and then NYC. Not to mention with his drama roles combined with Yamada's they could already be passed releasing their second album and not just their first.

As things are I just wish Johnny's figure out what they want to do about Yuma (as in keeping him a Junior or not if NYC is continuing) and figuring out at least a decent release pattern for both groups. I don't want another 2009 release schedule for HSJ.

On possible upcoming debut: Even though I've been certain we would be getting a new group debut with the tournament possibly going overseas as well as the fact that the disaster will probably continue to affect things for some time still (I know there seems to be quite a few delays to releases as factories are limited on power) I can see them delaying it. Johnny's debuts tend to be flashy affairs but with them severely cutting back on the power they use they may not feel it would be appropriate to have one even if it would be about half year after the disaster. Though I still think there will be another debut sooner rather than later. So if Kis-My-Ft2 are the only debut of 2011 I wouldn't be surprised to see another debut in 2012. Since I do think a lot of planning goes into these debuts and I'm sure they would have already at least shortlisted which Juniors they wanted to debut in the new group by now.

On Kansai Juniors: I need to hunt that video down then. I know I'll eventually be buying the DVD but I don't feel like being patient, especially for the Kansai Juniors as it's not often you get this kind of release from them. I hope we get a couple of them in the next debut group as it's now three groups straight without and Kansai Junior members that have debuted (if you're not counting NYC of course).

KMF2 is definitely debuting or at the very least will have a CD debut. We are in desperate need of a new Kanjuu group though. Kanjani8 can't be the only ones forever.

Thank you, I'm just happy that I finally stopped being lazy and completed the update to the front page. Though I think I may go back and add birth dates later on.

Just watched the second episode of Shounen Club for the month and was surprised to notice that Yuugo was missing from the group. The other three still got to perform and Sekai ni hitotsu dake no hana is a personal favorite of mine so I really enjoyed the performance even though I did miss Yuugo.
