A lot of people always like to talk about how hallyu acts are "people who steal money from japanese people" but truth of the matter is that most of the money kpop acts make in japan go directly to the japanese record company. If the jpn record company desperately pushes for these artists, they will be pushed. end of story.
Quite a small part goes to the korean company itself...
The thing is that the korean music market is so dead that the korean record companies would settle for any profit. (yes that small part is actually significant to companies like SM, or YG where most of the money they made is from japan to begin with)
