...Wait. Does that mean there are plans to release this elsewhere?? Or do you mean just on iTunes?

I guess it might be released on iTunes, but I think they could have some issues with copyright with the singers and labels.

In other hand, Teruzane said in twitter that he expects Hikki's hiatus to end soon, maybe we'll get a new album by mid 2015 or so.

^ mid 2015 would be AMAZING if that happened... I wonder if she'll go the ayaka route and just drop an album right from the get-go, or if she'll milk her comeback with singles and then an album, which she could definitely get away with.

Just listening to the HD Remasters of her VOL.1 and 2 Single Collections. Not that a remaster implies drastic changes, but has anyone noticed any noticeable updates so far? I'm not sure if I'm just convincing myself, but I somehow feel her vocals, especially in the earlier part of Vol. 1 are "smoother sounding", like what they did with the 2007 Mix of Fly Me To The Moon - I think it was called "layering"? Or maybe it's just that they added a bit more reverb to her vocals this time round...

Also, I think they reduced the thumping noise of the keys in the Stay Gold piano. It's still there, but I think it's slightly lesser in volume. It's most noticeable on the high notes.

But like, what do you mean that it's only for Japan? Cuz I mean, I really wasn't under the impression that the CD was gonna be released outside of Japan?

That's exciting though! I bet she's been writing and all even while she's been living her commoner life aha

I take back my comment about be my last and automatic after i listen to those in full. The arrangement really makes up for it.
I also love how Miliyah slip Give Me a Reason and a bit of First Love (if you notice) in her cover of For You.

I believe the first post was referring to the youtube preview of the track. Probably just a mistake on Sony's part (automatic setting?), since none of the others have that restriction.

#4 on oricon on its first day. I pre-ordered my copy a bit too late and now there seems to be a shortage...

^ Aaaaaah, that makes more sense. Yeah, I haven't listened to Miliyah's preview on YouTube (possibly because of the setting?), so I guess I didn't notice it at all.

I really need to download this CD soon though...

^Yes, it's album youtube preview. But I hope they won't have any issues with other labels and release the album overseas.

According with Hikki's staff, the album is out of stock in some CD shops. I think the album exceeded Universal's expectations.

So I REALLY like this cover album a lot more than I originally thought I would. Starting with the iffy ones, I REALLY do not like the Automatic vocalist. Like, waaaay too hilariously dramatic lord. That last chorus was way too much. LOVE PSYCHEDELICO's Hikari cover was okay I guess; as a song I liked it, but as a cover for Hikari it was ehhh... I'm kind of divided on time will tell, because BONNIE PINK's voice is great, but the arrangement is eh. Not really bad but not the greatest. And then there's Peabo Queenie Bryson....who actually didn't do Sanctuary too too bad? But the last chorus just went intersteller jfc, and he sings it strangely on the beat, rather than syncopated (or whatever Hikki's original does)

Everything else was gr9 though. SAKURA Drops is a fun salsa piece, Movin' on without you was actually pretty impressive, Miliyah slayed, and I actually really enjoyed the stripped down versions for Flavor Of Life and Stay Gold. Also FINAL DISTANCE sobs

Overall it's a pretty interesing release, I'm really glad, that they change arrangement quite a lot, since the majority of cover album don't do any dramatic changes to the originals. Ayu's, AI's and Miliyah's are my favorite.

Just read an article on animenewsnetwork saying that, according to a source from within Universal Music Japan, there are currently confidential talks about Hikaru's return to the music industry through performing the theme song for the last Evangelion film, conditional on if the director of the film can confirm a release date of 2015. Since this album will be the last one she'll make on her contract with Universal Music Japan, the company apparently "wants" her to make the theme song for the final Evangelion film and that that song would be the "focus" of the album (I'm assuming, by focus, it would be the lead single).

I know this is probably not "new" news, but at least the article "confirms" the 2 things that have been sort of up in the air:
- She'll be returning to the music industry for 2015
- She'll be doing the last theme song for Evangelion

This one, right? http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-12-26/magazine-final-evangelion-film-slated-for-fall-winter-2015-with-utada-song/.82629

It's kind of weird, since she signed a new contract with the late EMI befor she went on hiatus, I yhought she had like 3 or 4 albums to release to fullfil the contract, like the usual. And what label would she sign later? Sony? Warner?

Well, I believe she might release new material before this movie, since it's rumored to be released late 2015.

^ that's assuming she starts with a few singles instead of the one-album-comeback method (seems to be a trend lately) im honestly down for anything hahahh the world has gone far too long without a new Hikki album

I feel Warner would suit her more given that artists on the label don't seem to have as methodical a release system compared to other companies like Avex with artists almost mandated to have singles released in CD+DVD and CD Only formats and then an album containing all the tracks from the singles. Sony is better but their artists also have fairly predictable release schedules usually. I always thought EMI was best for her cuz most artists on the label don't seem to have a heavy commercialist vibe to their releases.

She would never fit avex anyway, they only want fashionista singers, that can make loadas of money with magazines, CMs, etc. I think sony would be nice for her carreer worldwide, some singers in Sony like Jasmine, Ken Hirai and Mika Nakashima work in their own pace, so it isn't much of a problem for Hikki.

But she could also go for the indie route, like ayaka, and sign with a big label just to distribute her CDs.
